Literature Text

He walked through the forest, his hair blowing across his face like tangles of the weeping willow trees, his honey-like hazel eyes, with rims of midnight blue were staring at the slowly fading sunlit sky. His lips were that of a light cottony pink, like soft spun sugar. His face was like that of marble, carved and chiseled to humanitarian perfection, though flaws wreaked his face as well.
He had a few scars, one in particular. It slashed across his cheek, leaving a deep laceration and a white line. It had a memory that only one person knew and he took it to the grave. He didn’t like to think of it that way though.
There were others, but that was the obvious one. He wore a trenchcoat that seemed to be quivering. His black shirt covered his chest like a glove and his black dressy like pants blew softly in the wind, holding onto his body for life. His hair flew freely in the stirring winds as his eyes were fixed on the sky.
He removed his trenchcoat as he reached the river that had been rushing beside him for the longest time. He laid the coat on the riverbank. Black wings sprung out of his back, glossy feathers upon a crow-like frame, except blown up to endow a human.
They flinched as he kneeled down to the river, cupping some of the water in his palm, swirling it around with his index finger, the black nail polish magnified in the wake of the water. He gave a sigh and threw the water back into its home. He was sick of being alone, though it had been only two days since…well, he didn’t want to go there, he’d start breaking down again, like he wouldn’t whenever he thought next. His mind insisted on thinking constantly of it, replaying it in his mind…He began to sing softly.

"Dancing on a stormy night
With you by my side
The stars begin to fall
And celebrate for us.

They just want us
To be together forever
And forever together,
Just you and me.
~*~*~
We dance forever
In the bath of moon
We sing forever
As one under the sky.
~*~*~
He sang to me
Late that night
His eyes sparkled like the stars
And his smile gleamed,.

I sang to him
A lullaby that held him
In his love for me
The sun shaded from us.
~*~*~
We dance forever
In the bath of moon
We sing forever
As one under the sky.
~*~*~
He held me close
So close to him
I could feel his heart,
I knew it beat for me.

He held me forever that night
While I cired about nothing
And he never once said
Anything about it.
~*~*~
We dance forever
In the bath of moon
We sing forever
As one under the sky."

He sang softly as the water sang on beside him, creating the instrumentals. He sighed and shook his head, watching the water carry away the pebbles that lay on the bottom of the river bed. He shook his head, tearing his eyes from it, looking around again, wondering what his freakin' purpose was if he were meant to be alone forever?
He hadn’t always been alone though. He had Jade. But now Jade was gone, and he was all alone. He sighed and pushed his hair out of his face. He couldn’t do this, not without his stronghold, his life. He couldn’t live without Jade.
He knew it was codependency but he didn’t care. Who cared if he needed someone else to live? He needed to be loved and only Jade would consent to love him. He sighed and stirred the water a bit.
The picture of Jade rose up in his mind. He shook his head. Him with the light brown hair, falling boyishly in his face, his round face aglow; Jade had always been happy. He sighed. Jade’s green eyes sparkled with laughter and happiness; they were always like that around Damien.
Gods he missed Jade. Unlike other people, he couldn’t just get over a death and move on. Damien just wanted to jump in that river and go to his lover. He did not know what was stopping him though. Maybe some hope that Jade would come back kept him from doing it. Or maybe it was that promise he had made to his lover. Whatever happens to me, don’t kill yourself, never kill yourself. It’s selfish and stupid. But gods he wanted to now. He just wanted to join his love, but he would keep his promise. He’d just let someone or something out here do it for him.
He sighed and curled up to sleep by the riverbank. He pulled out a small pocketknife and put a third cut into his skin. It had been three days since he lost Jade and he was keeping track of how long he could last. People would call him stupid for it, but it was enough for him to…kind of…deal with the pain of losing Jade. He sighed and curled up to fall asleep.
Damien's dreams alternated between memories and nightmares. All of them consisted of Jade and each of the nightmares relived Jade's death.
